One of the older neighbourhoods of Woonmaatschappij Dender-Zuid is about to undergo a remarkable transformation. This small, quiet neighbourhood has long been cherished by its residents both tenants and homeowners.
However, recognising the need to adapt to modern standards of living comfort and energy efficiency, a comprehensive renovation project will be initiated as the current buildings have no wall insulation, little or no roof insulation and single glazing.
Woonmaatschappij Dender-Zuid follows the objectives of the Flemish government with regard to energy and climate and invests heavily in energy renovations within its portfolio. All buildings will have to be renovated by 2050 to an EPC score of a maximum of 100 kWh/m². To achieve this, thorough energy renovations will be carried out. In addition, the implementation of sustainable techniques is also chosen.
Given the target group of SHM Denderstreek, the social tenants, it is important that they can live as energy-efficient as possible. For the entire patrimony Woonmaatschappij Dender-Zuid uses a 10-year maintenance schedule. In this way, it is possible to determine when which work must be carried out and what the cost per year will be. This method also allows the organisation to make a realistic estimate for each year.
